Tech Question - Dropped Coil Springs

I purchased a set of your 2 Inch lowered springs for a 1979 AMC Pacer frontend that is installed on my 1954 3100 Pickup.

To give it a more lowered stance my mechanic cut the springs, which in my opinion is to low but that is not the problem.

It just rides way too hard. Is there a way to correct this?

I want a more of a boulevard ride as it is a daily driver and I want to take it on some long trips.

I wince every time I see a serious road strip and or bumps.

It could be brought up higher.

Ron,

The strength of coil springs come from the diameter of the wire and the length of the wire used. The actual size of the coil spring, diameter, length, number of turns and end type are determined by the space they have to fit into.

The longer the wire used, the softer the spring. As coils are cut off the spring the wire length becomes shorter resulting in the coil becoming stronger.

This is what happened to your springs, and there is nothing that can be done to make her ride better short of replacing the springs.

However, the 2 Inch lowered coils we sold you are the shortest we make for the 1979 Pacer.

About the only way to get her lower than 2 Inches is to try and find dropped spindles.
